Identity & Values
St Mary’s a ‘WELL’ Church growing through prayer and service
Identity
Our history dates back to 1622. We are an evangelical church with a strong desire to bring the whole gospel in word and deed to the whole world. We are known as a friendly and welcoming church for the community
Values
Cross & Resurrection – we honour all that Jesus has done for us on the cross and embrace the way of the cross for ourselves because we know the power of his resurrection to set us free.
Continuity & Change – we are faithful guardians of an unchanging message about the person and work of Jesus and the need for personal salvation and holiness, while also creatively engaging in ways of Anglican worship, teaching, being church and doing mission according to culture and context.
Leadership & Servanthood – we train and equip every Christian to serve like Jesus in their home, work and church.
Mission & Community – we are outwardly focused to love and reach the lost, to care for the poor and to bring justice to our neighbourhood, workplaces and homes, while also being a grace-filled community in which people can find supportive relationships, healing, faith, hope and love.
Word & Spirit – we derive all we believe, teach and do from the Bible as the written word of God, while also learning to hear and obey the voice of the Spirit speaking to us individually and collectively.
Unity & Diversity – we work with other traditions who hold these values, while also acknowledging and honouring differences.
Prayer & Ministry – we are committed to seeking God’s will through personal devotions & prayer and also learning to operate in the power of the Holy Spirit to minister to others in love as Jesus did.
