The Reverend Adrian Gallagher

His many friends in Macosquin will be saddened by the news of the death of the Revd Adrian Gallagher in a Manchester hospital on Wednesday 16th January 2013.

Prior to entering the ministry Adrian had been an accountant and had worked with Milanda Bakeries in Londonderry.

He was ordained deacon in 1992 and served a curacy in Drumachose (Limavady) from1992 - 1996. He was Rector of Macosquin from 1996 - 2000 and he is still remembered by many parishioners in both parishes with great affection for his preaching and his outstanding pastoral ministry, particularly amongst the elderly. He was also a very accomplished cook.

During his time in Macosquin he was the driving force behind the renovation of the Upper Parish Hall and he raised the money for the asphalt paths around the church with a Gift Day ‘sit in.’ The Parish History - ‘1400 years of Christian Witness’ was compiled and published and dedicated to the memory of the late Canon Armstrong while Adrian was rector. His parting gift to the parish was a sum of money to be used to replace the faded seasonal colours  -  altar frontals, pulpit falls and sets of communion bourses and veils, a project which was completed in 2012.

After leaving Macosquin Adrian went to the Diocese of Manchester where he continued to minister as a team vicar in the parishes of Langley and Parkfield until his retirement in 2010.

He is survived his wife, Hester and their daughters Jane and Megan.
