‘Wonderful weather for ducks,’  is the best description of last Saturday. The only event at Macosquin’s summer fete on Saturday 2 Aug 2014, organised by the parishioners of St Mary’s Church, that wasn’t unduly affected by the torrential rain was the Duck Race.
Nonetheless, a number of intrepid Car Boot enthusiasts braved the elements for the Car Boot Sale and there were some very wet children’s games. The Bacon Bap stall did a roaring trade all morning.
In the afternoon, to the organisers’ surprise and delight, there a was a steady flow of people who enjoyed a variety of indoor activities, feasting on cream teas and crepes and who were entertained by the Drumachose Music Group from Limavady;  there was even a Bingo session!
In the evening, after a delicious curry supper at Mary Pats’ Bar there was music and dancing with the ever popular ‘Stars and Stripes Band’.
