Palm Sunday 2014

Several New Beginnings on Palm Sunday in St Mary’s Church Macosquin

The theme of last Sunday morning’s Church Service  in Macosquin was ‘new beginnings’.  The Sunday Club children played an active part at the start of the Service as they re-enacted  the Palm Sunday procession of Jesus  into Jerusalem to mark the beginning of Holy Week. Shortly afterwards, the congregation welcomed four month old William George Frame into the Christian community in Baptism.  William’s parents George and Emma were married in the parish church two years ago, where George had been a member of the Church Lads Brigade.  The family now live in England.

In the same service, the newly elected Select Vestry and other officers of the Church were commissioned.  Mary Campbell and Pearl Mullan are the new churchwardens.  Jill Oliver and Kenneth McAfee are two other new additions to the Select Vestry who, amongst  their various responsibilities will assist the Rector, Canon Mike Roemmele  and other parishioners involved in developing the Mission and Ministry of the Church to young adults and teenagers.
