Dedication of Seasonal Colours

In a short Dedication Ceremony at the beginning of the main service on Sunday 13th May the Churchwardens Kenny Campbell and Kathleen Platt petitioned the Rector to dedicate two new sets of Liturgical seasonal colours, which include Pulpit Falls, Bourses and Veils for the Holy Communion chalices, Superfrontals for the Holy Table and marker ribbons for the lectern and Prayer books.

These were manufactured from beautiful Donegal tweed, White and Green fabrics by Hunter Ferguson of Crumlin and are the gift of former Rector, The Revd Adrian Gallagher. Much admired by the congregation, the Select Vestry is confident that they will inspire sufficient interest to complete the project and help to raise the funds necessary to purchase the Red and Purple sets later this year.

Dedication of Seasonal colours

Churchwardens:
Reverend Sir, On behalf of the Select Vestry and Parishioners of St. Mary's we present you with these gifts from The Reverend Adrian Gallagher and ask you to dedicate them for use in this Church.

Rector: Explains the significance of the new colours to the congregation...................................

Parish Reader Lorna Doherty Reads 1 Kings 8: 57-60 - Solomon’s Prayer of dedication:
May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us nor forsake us. May he turn our hearts to him, to walk in obedience to him and keep the commands, decrees and laws he gave our ancestors. And may these words of mine, which I have prayed before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God day and night, that he may uphold the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel according to each day’s need, that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God and that there is no other.

Rector:  In gratitude for the ministry of Adrian Gallagher and in remembrance of his service to this church we dedicate these liturgical colours, signifying celebration and growth, to the glory of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
