Christmas 2013

Christmas celebrations for the church and community opened with the Senior Citizens Christmas lunch in the Parish Hall at Macosquin on 11 December. The Rector and Adrienne co-ordinated the preparation of the meal for 60 people, helped by the Macosquin Primary School cook and a parish team serving tables and washing up.  The meal was followed by a wonderful performance of Christmas songs and carols by the School Choir in the church.

A week later there was more carol singing at the church followed by mince pies and mulled wine as Canon Carson switched on the lights of Macosquin's village Christmas Tree. Afterwards a group of 40 children and adults toured the village, singing carols in support of The Northern Ireland Hospice, finishing at Mary Pat's Bar for a hot supper prepared by Lizzie Todd.

The church was beautifully decorated with candles, flowers, holly and ivy with a beautiful stable nativity scene. A new touch this year was the rector's pair of chandeliers constructed from old cartwheel rims suspended above the aisle and lit with tealights.
