Christmas 2011

Some of the Senior Citizens who enjoyed a Christmas lunch in the Parish Hall at Macosquin on 14 December, which launched the 2011 Christmas celebration for the church and community. Bob Briggs, functions chef from The Bushtown Hotel co-ordinated the preparation of the meal for 100 people, helped by Barbara McGrath of The Catering Department of North West Technical College Limavady, the Macosquin Primary School cook, and parishioner Jennifer Millen with a team of almost 20, serving the tables and washing up.  The meal ended with a wonderful half hour performance of Christmas songs and carols by the School Choir.

Later on the same day there was more carol singing at the church followed by mince pies and mulled wine as Mrs Martha Balmer a much loved 93 year old resident of the village  and Cllr William King,  Deputy Mayor switched on the lights of Macosquin's first village Christmas Tree which was donated by Hugh Hamilton. Afterwards a group of 40 children and adults toured the village, singing carols in support of The Northern Ireland Hospice, finishing at Mary Pat's Bar for a hot supper prepared by Lizzie Todd.
